During the VEC endurance racing off-season, we are going to run a short race series named “SCES Historics” based around two 1960s classic WSC FIA endurance cars. Two tracks will be historically accurate from the time period. Two will be modern configurations but of tracks that were also popular in the 1960s. The two cars – a very modified Lola T70 Coupe (FIA Group 6) and a new Cobra 289 (FIA Group 4) have been produced by SCES modding team developer Pumbaa from the ISI rFactor 2 original cars, and customized for better, more stable handling, and optimized for endurance racing. This will offer multi-class classic racing in prototype and GT.

Schedule of Events

The series will be run at the following venues / dates / times:

1.5 Hours of Monza Practice Race (daytime) – 09 July, 1600 GMT (11 am EST)
3 Hours of Monza (daytime) – 30 July, 1600 GMT (11 am EST)
3 Hours of Road America (daytime) – 20 August, 1600 GMT (11 am EST)
3 Hours of Longford (daytime) – 10 September, 1600 GMT (11 am EST)
6 Hours of Sebring (daytime to nighttime) – 01 October, 1600 GMT (11 am EST)

SCES Lola FIA T70

Pumbaa started with the ISI rFactor 2 Howston G4 Coupe, used the reference specifications at UltimateCarPage.com from the actual Chevrolet powered Lola T70 Mk3B Coupe, and tweaked it with the following features for FIA Group 6 racing:

  • Tweaked the baseline set up so the car is more stable
  • Durability has been tuned for 6 hour, 12 hour, and 24 hour races
  • Opened-up the radiator and brake duct settings further
  • Although the tires are not ISI CPM rated on the Lola (Howston), the tires do have extra grip to offset a lowered groove effects parameter to allow for easier driving at low rubber and to make these cars more conducive for endurance races
  • Stronger headlights for Sebring

SCES Cobra FIA 289

Pumbaa started with the ISI rFactor 2 AC Cobra 427, used the reference specifications at UltimateCarPage.com from the actual 289 cubic inch AC Shelby Cobra Mk II, and tweaked it with the following features for FIA Group 4 racing in the single year it ran before being replaced by the Daytona Coupe:

  • Tweaked the baseline set up so the car is more stable
  • Durability has been tuned for 6 hour, 12 hour, and 24 hour races
  • The Cobra’s new 289 c.i. engine retains the 7000 rpm invisible rev limit of the 427 c.i., where any over-revving hurts the lap time and reduces engine life
  • Opened up radiator and brake duct settings further
  • The Cobra CPM tires are tweaked to have extra grip to offset a lowered groove effects parameter to allow for easier driving at low rubber and to make these cars more conducive for endurance races
  • Stronger headlights for Sebring
